Purpose

At Casa Del Conejo, we aim to share the rich culture and exceptional quality behind artisanal and ancestral mezcal. This revered spirit not only embodies a deep-rooted tradition but also supports indigenous communities in Oaxaca, Mexico. For these communities, mezcal is more than a drink—it’s a sacred form of art.

History

Casa Del Conejo was established by Michael Murray in December 2023. Michael’s journey began in 2022 when he first visited Oaxaca, Mexico, and became captivated by the region’s vibrant art, food, and most importantly, its culture. Inspired by stories from his father, who worked and lived part-time in Mexico City and visited Oaxaca in the mid-1990s, Michael ventured beyond the typical tourist paths to immerse himself in the world of traditional mezcal production. During these visits, he developed a profound respect for the mezcaleros and their dedication to their craft. Driven by a desire to honor their work, Michael founded Casa Del Conejo to bring these artisanal mezcal expressions to California, fostering a deeper appreciation for this rapidly growing spirit across the state.
